The Federal Signal SmartSiren® system uses microprocessor technology to provide an integrated full-function electronic siren and light control system. Its state-of-the-art design provides improved performance, durability and versatility under a wide range of environmental conditions.

The SmartSiren system consists of an amplifier/relay unit and control head for complete electronic siren functions, full control of the vehicle's warning lights, and provision for switch control of up to six auxiliary circuits. A four-position slide switch is standard on the control head. A second model (SS2000SM) combines the light and siren operations with SignalMaster directional light control. In addition to the standard siren tones (wail, yelp, hi-lo, and manual), advanced features such as horn ring transfer, radio rebroadcast, TAPII, and PA are available. Provision is made to allow installation of a user-supplied switch, such as a foot switch, to activate lights and siren in the pursuit mode.

The SmartSiren system can drive one or two high power (100 watt) or low power (58 watt) 11-ohm speakers. For control of lights and other auxiliary functions, eight relay outputs are available. One output is fused at 40 amperes, two at 20 amperes, and five at 10 amperes. In addition, the model SS2000SM offers control of up to seven distinct signaling patterns (three directional and four flashing warn) ont he six or eight lamp SignalMaster units. An LED display on the control head emulates the warning pattern being executed by the directional light.

A major feature of the SmartSiren system is its ability to be configured at the point of installation. Selection of features is done from the rubberized push buttons on the control head, without disassembly or removing the unit from its mounted location.

Super Slim Control Head
SmartSiren is operated by the "Air Bag Wise" control head. When installed properly, the control head will not interfere with the deployment of either the driver or passenger side air bag. (For safe equipment mounting zones in your vehicle, consult your car manufacturer's recommended guidelines.) Two rows of rubberized switches (three on the model SS2000SM) and slide switch allow simple control of emergency vehicle's warning lights, siren, and auxiliary functions.

Simple Installation
The amplifier/relay unit can be remotely located and connected to the control head via a 20 foot telephone cable with telephone-type connectors at each end. A mounting bracket (supplied) allows the assembly to be located in a variety of positions. To utilize the unit's public address feature, order microphone model MNCT. When the amplifier is remotely mounted, extension cable (model RMK) must be obtained.
