Premium Vision®/Vision® Light Systems
Premium Vision® Light System
  • Patented V-shape design enhances vehicle visibility at critical 45° to 90° angles on approach to intersections.
  • Not just a lightbar, but a fully integrated warning system including emergency lights, siren, and ultra-thin controller.
  • Capable of multiple warning patterns from random rotating to fully synchronized selectable by you in the field.
  • Microprocessor "smart pods" perform a variety of duties: rotation, oscillation, takedown, steady burn, alley, and flash.
  • Gearless stepper motors are exceptionally quiet and have a 33% longer life than conventional rotator motors.
  • Offered in 44", 48", and 60" lengths, and with SignalMaster.

Ideally suited for professionals in the law enforcement, fire/ambulance, and tow/recovery markets, Federal Signal's Premium Vision® and Vision warning systems offer a wide range of warning options.

The Vision system consists of seven, independent light modules for maximum lighting options. The Premium Vision system, in addition to the seven light modules, includes a built-in, full-featured electronic siren.

The V-shaped construction of each system maximizes light warning efficiency at crucial 45° to 90° angles. Special design of the individual domes eliminates the critical dome angles found in conventional lightbars for improved light transmission (brightness). Plus, the Vision unit is aerodynamic. Tests have shown that a vehicle with a Vision warning system installed operated at 98.2% of the fuel efficiency of a clean-roof car, while attaining 97.6% of the top speed.

Auxiliary relay outputs are available for control of accessory functions, such as headlight flashers, grille lights, or rear deck lights. Three 10-ampere relays are available in the Vision units, while four 20-ampere relays are supplied with the Premium Vision models.

Modular construction and reliable solid-state electronics minimize downtime in the Premium Vision and Vision systems. Easily replaceable circuit boards, domes, and lamps greatly reduce spare parts inventory. Plus, each system's microprocessor technology provides reselectability of lighting functions (without disassembly) to meet future requirements.

Both the Premium Vision and Vision series systems are offered in three sizes (44", 48", or 60"). The 48" model is designed for standard vehicle widths. A smaller, 44" model is available for use on compact or specialty vehicles. The 60" version places the pods slightly farther apart than the 48" units to allow light to be visible to the sides of large vehicles such as fire apparatus and ambulances.

Seven Light Modules
Microprocessor based controls allow each of the system's self-contained lights, or "smart pods," to provide a choice of light warning patterns. Available patterns include rotation at 95, 120, or 175 flashes per minute (FPM); oscillation to the front, rear, sides, and/or angled; steady burn; and flash.

One or two light modules may be used as alley/steady burn/takedown lights. These lights have horizontal tracking capability and can home to a predetermined position. Refer to the Vision Software Product Bulletin (#1607) for more details on lighting patterns. Pattern selection can be performed during or after installation without disassembly, wiring changes, or special tools.

Parabolic reflectors in the Premium Vision and Vision systems' seven independent light pods are controlled by stepper motors. Stepper motors allow smooth, precise and efficient positioning of the light. In addition, these motors are quieter and have a 33% longer life than conventional DC motors.

Keyboard Configurations
Selectable "standard" keyboard configurations are available. Each keyboard configuration has a different function assigned to each of the control head switches. Only one keyboard configuration can be selected at a time. System operation is different for each keyboard configuration. The standard keyboard configuration can be easily changed, if required, when the warning system is installed. Keyboard configurations vary with specific software.

Toggle
When a user-supplied switch, such as a foot switch or under-dash switch is used, the system provides a toggle feature. This feature toggles between slide switch position 2 or 3.

Horn Ring Transfer
This feature, available in the Premium Vision system, is programmable at the Control Head. The horn ring feature will activate a light pattern and/or siren tone associated with the horn ring.

Colour Customization
The V-shaped systems allow for simple colour customization. Modular domes and inserts are available in a variety of colours and are easy to remove or replace. Two Torx head screws are used to secure the domes in place. Inserts snap into molded tabs and are held in place with the dome.

When ordering, specify dome colours (red, blue, amber, clear, or green), when ordering the warning system in solid colours. For a two-colour signal, specify a clear dome with optional front or rear inserts in red, blue, amber, or green (purchase separately).

Easy Installation
The Vision Warning System may be installed in any vehicle with a 12-volt negative ground electrical system. The Interface/Relay Unit may be installed int he trunk or glove box, under the seat or dash. For simple installation, connection between the Control Head and the Interface/Relay Unit is via a 20 foot modular telephone cable with standard modular phone connections at both ends. Connection between the Interface/Relay Unit and the lightbar is via a small multi-conductor cable with connectors at both ends. A mounting bracket is supplied for the control head and interface/relay unit, to allow mounting in a variety of positions.

SignalMaster™ Directional Light
SignalMaster™, the optional rear directional light, provides additional warning capability to the Premium Vision and Vision systems. Designed to meet or exceed CAC Class B and SAE J595 standards for flashing warning lights, the unit's selectable light patterns provide supplemental warning lighting for any hazardous situation. Directional signals can be selected right or left to divert traffic around a dangerous situation, or a warning pattern may be used to advise caution.

When the SignalMaster directional light is specified with your order of a Vision or Premium Vision system, control of the unit is accessed from the system control head.
