Installation Instructions
All connections are external. There is no need to open the control box during the installation process.
-
Remove dust cover by removing the two lock nuts and washers located on the back of the arrow board.
-
Mount the Traffic Guide Directional Arrow Board on the vehicle as desired.
-
Replace dust cover.
-
Route the hook up cable from the Arrow Board to the driver’s compartment or wherever the control box will be located.
- A mounting bracket is provided for easy installation of the control box. Determine a suitable position for the
mounting bracket and attach it to the vehicle with appropriate fasteners.
- Connect bare end of the heavy black wire to a suitable chassis ground.
-
Connect spade connector of heavy black wire to screw marked “NEG” on the terminal strip located on the back of the controller.
-
Connect spade connector of white wire from the arrow board hook up cable to screw marked “W” on the terminal strip.
-
Connect spade connector of red wire from the arrow board hook up cable to screw marked “R” on the terminal strip.
-
Connect spade connector of black wire from the arrow board hook up cable to screw marked “B” on the terminal strip.
-
Connect spade connector of green wire from the arrow board hook up cable to screw marked “G” on the terminal strip.
-
Connect spade connector of heavy red wire to screw marked “POS” on the terminal strip located on the back of the controller.
-
Connect bare end of the heavy red wire to a 12-volt positive power source.
Note: The above wiring connection
instructions assume that the arrow board is mounted facing the rear of the
vehicle with the Arrow Board’s mounting flange at the bottom position.
If the arrow board is installed facing the
front of the vehicle or in a position with the flange up, the arrow board will
not point in the same direction as the pilot lights on the controller
indicate.
If the arrow board points
right when the controller indicates that it is pointing left and vice versa, the
situation can be corrected by connecting the white wire to the terminal marked
“G” and the green wire to the terminal marked “W”.
After completing the
connections check which direction the arrow board is flashing and be sure that
it coincides with the directions indicated by the control
box.
Maintenance Instructions
Trouble Shooting
-
If
arrow board is not operating or is not lighting to full brilliance, make sure
all wire connections are properly made and the power source is active. Take particular care in making certain that
ground connections are properly made.
-
If
individual lamps in the arrow board are not operating properly, but the bulb is
good, tighten the lamp retaining screws since these screws complete the
electrical connection in this model.
