Extenda-Lite Push-Up Models with
Thru the Roof Mounting Bracket (TR)

Mounting Instructions

  1. Unpack the shipping box. Inside you will have, one (1) inside Push-Up pole with light head mounted to the top of the inside pole for shipping. One (1) short outside pole (11-1/2" unless other length is specified) with Guide Seal Bushing attached to the top and the shorter of the TR Brackets below the the top Guide Seal Bushing (the short TR bracket has a piece of plastic under one (1) set screw to hold the bracket in place. The Lock Collar is semi-attached to the bottom of the short outside pole. One (1) taller TR Bracket, with one (1) Push-Up handle grip, one (1) inside bottom pole bushing with bottom strain relief are shipped loose.
  2. Inspect the box and all items inside for damage. Report any damage to the delivering carrier immediately. If there is any damage, save the box and all packing materials.
  3. Select the location for your new Thru-The-Roof Extenda-Lite. Make sure there are no pipes or wiring to be damaged when the mounting holes are drilled. Also check to see that no levers, pipes, wiring, or shelves interfere with the operation or mounting position of the light.
  4. If your new Extenda-Lite does not fit where you want to mount it, contact us immediately for assistance.
  5. Make sure the mounting surface is square and level. Mark and center punch each of the five (5) hole locations. Drill four (4) 5/16" holes for the mounting bracket bolts and a 1-3/4" hole for the outside pole to pass through. Remove the Lock Collar from the short outside pole section. (NOTE: Since water seepage can be a problem with all Thru-The-Roof Mounting Brackets, they must be sealed with a good grade of silicone caulk around the outside pole that goes thru the 1-3/4" roof hole and the other four (4) mounting bolts that hold the TR Bracket set together). Remove the plastic pole protector from the TR Bracket that is on the short outside pole and tighten, (there is some adjustment here if you desire the light head higher). With a good grade of silicone caulk, caulk between the pole and TR Bracket and caulk around each of the five (5) holes in the cab roof. Slide the outside pole assembly from the top down. Next slide the other half of the TR Bracket up from the inside and insert the four (4) nuts and bolts. Do not tighten these four (4) bolts. Tighten the three (3) set screws on both TR brackets. Tighten the four (4) TR mounting bracket bolts. Reinstall the Lock Collar and tighten the three (3) stainless steel set screws. Work the hand grip up the coil cord and onto the inside pole. Work the bottom bushing and attached stain relief into place and attach with the two (2) set screws to hold the bottom bushing in place. Slide the hand grip down so it rests on the bottom bushing. Screw the strain relief into the bottom bushing and tighten. Then tighten the strain relief cap. If you feel that the bottom of the inside Push- Up pole requires support, order the optional HC-2 or HC-4 Handle Cup.
  6. Each Thru-The-Roof Extenda-Lite is a permanent installation and you requires a licensed electrician do the wiring on all 110/220 volt, AC electrical circuits. Extenda-Lites and all electrical equipment must be wired to a properly protected circuit breaker box following all National Electrical Codes.

Note: A convenient way to run cords through the body panels or into the compartments is with the use of a Hubbell SHC-1022 strain relief or its equal. This will give you a water tight sealed connection and wire protection all in one.

Black wire to circuit breaker's hot side.
White wire to breaker box's neutral bar.
Green wire to breaker box's ground terminals.
Make sure all wires are ran in areas that will not be hit or abraded. Use wire ties to hold securely in place.
