Extenda-Lite Models with Side Mount Brackets (SM)
Mounting Instructions
- Unpack the shipping box. Inside you will find an Extenda-Lite pole assembly
that is totally prewired with two (2) Side Mount Brackets, SM. You have either
SM-2 brackets with a 2.125" offset or SM-4 brackets which have a
4.250" offset.
- Inspect the box and all items inside for damage. Report any damage to the
delivering carrier immediately. If there is any damage, save the box and all
packing materials.
- Select the location for your new Side Mounted Extenda-Lite. For Pull-Up
Models try to have a minimum spacing of at least 18" and a maximum of
50" between brackets for mounting. Make sure there are no pipes or wiring
that will be damaged when the mounting holes are drilled.
- If your new Extenda-Lite does not fit where you want to put it, contact us
immediately for assistance.
- Either SM-2 or SM-4 brackets are already installed on the outside pole with
a piece of plastic under one of the two (2) set screws. This piece of plastic
must be removed once bracket location is selected. Make sure pole and brackets
are square and parallel to each other with adjacent vertical lines. Mark, center
punch and drill each of the four (4) 5/16" holes for each SM Bracket.
- With pole in place, bolt brackets into the holes drilled in step five, do
not over tighten. Slide pole assembly up or down to adjust the light head for
the desired level and overall stowed height. Finish tightening the bracket
mounting bolts and the two (2) 1/4 x 20 stainless steel set screws in each
bracket so the pole can not move up or down.
- Each Side Mounted Extenda-Lite is a permanent installation and requires a
licensed electrician do the wiring on all 110/220 volt, AC electrical circuits.
Extenda-Lites and all electrical equipment must be wired to a properly protected
circuit breaker box following all National Electrical Codes.
Note: A convenient way to run cords through the body panels or into
the compartments is with the use of a Hubbell SHC-1022 strain relief or its
equal. This will give you a water tight sealed connection and wire protection
all in one.
Black wire to circuit breaker's hot side.
White wire to breaker box's neutral bar.
Green wire to breaker box's ground terminals.
Make sure all wires are ran in areas that will not be hit or abraded. Use wire
ties to hold securely in place.
