Junction Box Mounting Bracket
  1. Unpack the shipping box. Inside you will find one (1) Extenda-Lite PLMT spring loaded mounting bracket, and a tapered boss with hardware, that will be mounted on the Junction Box.
  2. Inspect the box and all items inside for damage. Report any damage to the delivering carrier immediately. If there is any damage, save the box and all packing materials.
  3. Select the location for your new PLMT bracket. Make sure there are no pipes or wiring that will be damaged when the mounting holes are drilled. Make sure the spring loaded pull pin is easy to reach and pull, so you can release The Junction Box from the PLMT apparatus Bracket. You can hang the Junction Box from the top of a compartment or mounted so that it is setting on the compartment floor and pushed into the PLMT bracket.
  4. Mark, center punch and drill each of the two (2) 5/16" holes for the PLMT bracket.
  5. Make sure the Junction Box is disconnected from any power source. If not, disconnect before proceeding.
  6. Have a licensed electrician remove one of the Junction Boxes' side faceplates. After the screws are removed, carefully move the faceplate away from the box. The faceplate is prewired, and you will not be able to completely remove the faceplate from the Junction Box. Just pull the faceplate away two or three inches so that you have a little working room.
  7. At the opposite end of the box from where the power source inlet connection is made, drill a 21/64" hole in the center of the casting. The center of the hole will be approximately 2-1/2" down for the top and 2-3/4" in from either side of the Junction Box.
  8. Make sure that when you drill the hole nothing is going to interfere or be hit by the drill bit.
  9. All drill shavings must be vacuumed out of the Junction Box to prevent possible short circuits.
  10. Insert the 5/16" -18 x 1-1/2" stainless steel, socket head bolt through the center of the tapered, aluminum boss.
  11. Now push the stainless steel socket head bolt through the drilled hole in the Junction Box and tighten down the lock nut. Make sure that the holes in the boss line up with the PLMT, in the position it will be mounted.
  12. Carefully reinstall faceplate in the same manner as it was removed.
  13. Test the Junction Box to make sure that everything is working correctly and that it is clean and ready to be put back into service.
