HotBox Instructions

INTRODUCTION
By buying the ACD Hot Box 200, you have obtained one of the most durable and modern machines on the market. It conforms to the National and European Safety Regulations.

ATTENTION! This warning symbol appears in the operating manual for all operating and safety instructions dealing with the implementation of rules, regulations and instructions for proper operation to avoid damage to the machine.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
! This operation manual should be thoroughly and completely studied and understood prior to initial start-up of the unit. 
! This machine should be operated only by persons who are fully familiar with the operating instructions.
! When opening the machine in case of malfunction or emergency, the unit to has to be switched off by means of the ON/OFF switch and should be unplugged.
! The max. pressure stated on the nameplate must not be exceeded. The safety valve opens as soon as the max. operating pressure is exceeded by 10%. The safety/control valve is factory adjusted and sealed. The adjustment must not be changed.
! Check the hoses for any damage before start-up. Defective hoses should be replaced immediately. Using materials other than the original equipment or using materials which have not expressively been approved by ACD in writing, voids all warranties and product liability.
! When the lever is in the open position it must not be blocked or fixed in any other way.
! The safety lever should be engaged when the spray pistol is not in use.
! Using shortened spray lances below (750 mm)(30 inches) in length could be dangerous.
! The unit must not be placed or operated in potential fire or explosive areas.
! Unattended operation is strictly forbidden.
! Electrocution can cause severe injuries. Check electrical components thoroughly and frequently for damages and malfunctions. Professionally trained personnel should carry out all repair work. Unplug the unit during all repair/maintenance work.
! Remove the extension cables from reels completely to avoid overheating of the cable reel.
! Indoor operation of oil-heated high-pressure water heaters is not permitted if proper ventilation is not provided.. Exhaust gas is harmful!
! Repair work within the high-pressure section of the machine (pump, hoses, piping) is only to be carried out by certified trained technicians.
! The exhaust manifold area is hot! Do not touch!
! Make sure that the unit is stabilized. If it is equipped with a break, it should be activated when working in steep areas.

CONFIGURATIONS AND MODE OF OPERATION
The Hot Box module is an oil-heated heater system, which heats water according to the thermostat setting. When the correct temperature is reached, the thermostat switches off the oil flow to the burner and switches it on again upon reaching the lowest set point.
The fuel is supplied out of a 20 l. NATO vessel that is mounted in the unit's frame.

* Note item number 3 on newer models has been relocated to below the outlet manifold on the side of the unit. It is identified by a blue knob with indication arrows for increase and decrease of temperature.



START-UP/SHUT-DOWN
! During indoor operation ensure proper ventilation and exhaust gas evacuation.

BEFORE START-UP

  • Connect the desired shower system (spray pistol, integrated shower system inside Airshelter, ACD Hazmat shower) onto one of the four outlets on the Hot Box. (The other side is connected to the inlet of the desired shower system)
  • Connect the water supply hose from ACD Hydrosphere Pump 710 onto the lower inlet on the Hot Box.
  • Fill NATO vessel (20 l.) with clean fuel oil according to DIN51603, part 1 or Diesel.
  • Properly close the fuel tank after filling to avoid contamination.
  • Abide by safety regulations during handling of fuel.
  • Never mix the pressure in- and outlet of the Hot Box.
  • Connect the unit with the electrical cord and plug to the electrical outlet or to a main switch, which is equipped with a 16 A fuse. Extension cords must have a diameter according to NEMA rules.
  • Reel extension cords off their reels completely during operation, in order to avoid overheating of the cable reel. A protection switch is recommended. NEMA regulations should be followed.

OPERATION

  • Switch on the ACD Hydrophor Pump according to the operating instructions.
  • Unlock and activate the spray pistol (or shower systems), vent the unit.
  • Turn Hot Box burner switch (1) into position 1 - red control lamp (2) is illuminated.
  • Adjust Hot Box thermostat (3) to the required operating temperature.

! Never touch high voltage components, ignition electrodes, plugs/cables during operation or emergency.
