PPV FANS
PGB Series
The Positive Pressure Blower is a is a high volume fan used to pressurize a burning structure in order to force the smoke out. Positive Pressure Blowers are portable, gasoline powered fans, most of which utilize a 5.5 horsepower engine.

The theory of positive pressure ventilation is based on the principal of even pressure distribution. Once a structure is pressurized, air and smoke can be forced out through any opening (similar to air escaping from an inflated balloon).

Standard Features
All models are equipped with 8" pneumatic tires mounted on steel wheels with ball bearing hubs and a full width axle.
Polypropylene propeller and spun aluminum fan shroud.

The telescoping easy grip 'T' handle is firefighter friendly and is standard on all models.
Frame consists of 1" square tubing
Finish red powder coat
A unique tilt and lock device allows the blower (the frame stays firm) to be angled 20 degrees up or down with infinite positions in between.

Ease of transportation is a major advantage of the blower. If the terrain is too rough to negotiate, there are two lift points (one on each side) which allow the blower to be easily carried by two people. These lift points are also of great assistance in returning the unit to its storage compartment.

Negative pressure ventilation can be used for smoke removal, but this has proven to be inferior to positive pressure ventilation.

  1. The risk of injury from the engaged structure is reduced while placing the fan in operation.
  2. Positive Pressure Ventilation is faster to set up and requires fewer personnel.
  3. The Positive Pressure Blower has a self contained power source, while electric fans require cords and adaptors.
  4. Smoke and heat is removed from all levels of the structure unlike negative pressure which can result in localized extraction.
  5. Quicker Results. After initial knockdown, positive pressure ventilation can be initiated and will show immediate improvements in the interior conditions.
  6. It allows replacement of contaminants with vital cooler cleaner air, especially in sealed or windowless buildings, warehouses, schools, etc.
  7. Quick results allow firefighters faster entry due to lower heat levels and improved visibility.
